What’s up, internet basketball junkie? There’s a pretty big streak that just came to an end - and no, I’m not talking about my streak of consecutive weeks of running a product sale. LeBron James finally snapped his nearly 19 year streak of consecutive 10-point games at 1,297. Just wow. As someone who grew up just 15 miles from him - and is only a year younger - I’ve followed that streak from the very beginning. Northeast Ohio people know what it meant to watch him rise, stumble, and do it all again for 23+ years now. I was there when Roger Bacon upset St. V in the state title game in 2002. And while LeBron’s streak may have ended, this newsletter is rolling right into today’s topic… THE STARTING FIVE🥇 Best of the Week If you use a box BLOB formation, this thread is worth a sift:
PG - 🪣 As games start, typically skill work gets left behind... I'd be identifying the players with the greatest potential to score the ball (program-wide) and continue to feed them these drills:
SG - 📝 Early in the season, passing can be all over the place... If that's your team, READ THESE TIPS SF - 🛡️ It's not just your team that can't pass early in the season - "help" other teams make passing errors with concepts like "Jay Wright's 1-2-2 Tempo Press"
PF - 📋 Here's a set that caught my attention Stretch the defense horizontally, then create a push/pull vertically with sideline penetration and a gut stagger...

Alright, LeBron streak talk aside… let’s end this newsletter the way it started: With a little LeBron appreciation. Whether he’s scoring 8 points or 40, finishing lefty like a cheat code, or reminding the league that 38 is the new 28 - the man still delivers premium entertainment. And I hope to be able to continue to enjoy it for a couple more years. Have a great week! -Coach Hack PS. What’s up, internet basketball junkie? Before we talk about the BLOB of the year, let's talk about how to embarrass a 2-3 zone... It was against Jackson State... The zone didn't rotate right... They positioned too high... I do not care. What’s up, internet basketball junkie? I’m 18+ hours into live streaming. Right now, I'm going live to X, YouTube, LinkedIn, and Facebook. Click on any of the platforms and turn on notifications to get updates for the streams (please) 😊 I’m experimenting, testing formats, and figuring out what hits best - but one thing is locked in: I’m going to keep cranking out long form basketball content for coaches. Multiple times per week. Consistent. Informative. Entertaining. At the moment, the show...
What’s up, internet basketball junkie? For Christmas, my significant other did something wildly thoughtful (and slightly dangerous): she had all of my college game film transferred from dusty old VHS tapes into digital format. Which means you are now officially on notice - you will be forced to watch grainy clips of me “getting buckets” in baggy shorts with long hair from 20 years ago. Long hair that peaked in college and has been in the transfer portal ever since. But the best part wasn’t...
