The “Red Defense” Everyone’s Asking About (⛹🏽TSF: 127)

What’s up, internet basketball junkie?

At least a dozen coaches have asked me for the document from this YouTube video on the Flexible 1-2-2 Defense:

If you want it too, you can access it here for free: The_Red_Defense_Playbook.pdf

The above video is an excerpt from the full stream with Coach Marty Dello (90+ minutes in length that includes game film)

And for the an even deeper dive into the 1-2-2 3/4 court press and learning all the details of running it, check out the guide to the Jay Wright Tempo Press:

🥇 Best of the Week Imagine if the school resource officer came over and cuffed you mid-game... "Sorry coach, Rolex + Spain has been banned nationwide." Straight. To. Jail. 😂

PG - ⌚ Speaking of Rolex... TJ Otzelberger may have the biggest Rolex collection of them all:

SG - ⌚ Some say I'm obsessed with Rolex (which true)... but I'm also obsessed with Wemby. I even went to watch Wemby play against the Cavs in Cleveland (and he didn't even show up - it was really sad 😥 but it allowed the Cavs to win the game!).

But best believe when I spot Wemby running Rolex action, it's gonna get relayed to you:

SF - 🏀 A concentrated power game against zone defense offsets the inclination of your players to just jack a bunch of threes... This thread is just drop in a bucket of The Encyclopedia of Zone Offense:

PF - 🏀 When coaches talk about keeping things simple, this is what they mean. Coach Kramer's "Relentless Transition" course is built on simple, functional speed:

The NBA Playoffs have begun!

I would not jinx the Cavs by picking them to win the title, but they have looked pretty good so far.

I have considered picking every other team other than the Cavs to jinx all them.

Everything has gone pretty chalk except the Pistons and Magic.

The interesting thing there is the Pistons got the #1 seed on a full regular season of toughness and physicality...

And they didn't even look like the toughest team against the Magic in game 1.

One game means very little, but it does mean something. It will be interesting to see how the series continues to play out.

Have a great week!

What’s up, internet basketball junkie? Valencia finished 2nd in the EuroLeague regular season after being projected to finish 16th… and they did it without a superstar. They did it through their SYSTEM OF PLAY. Their offense led the league in scoring, built on pace, ball screens, and a design where everything connects - spacing, decisions, and relentless pressure. It’s one of the most complete team-driven systems in basketball right now. I just added a full Valencia film study (including a...

What’s up, internet basketball junkie? I just added something new to the 1-3-1 Multiple Defense System - and it fits the identity of the product perfectly. The 1-3-1 system is built around one idea: breaking offensive rhythm with multiple looks out of the same structure. This new addition is exactly that. In a 22+ minute video, I broke down the Morphing “Lanes” 1-3-1 Zone Defense used by Fred Hoiberg at Nebraska - a change-of-pace defense that doesn’t pressure the ball… it takes away the next...

What’s up, internet basketball junkie? Just like I said from the very beginning of the tournament… Michigan is your national champion! Now, I know what you’re thinking. “Didn’t you pick Houston?” Fake news. AI deepfake. Never happened. “Wasn’t it Purdue?” No, that was 2023 when they lost to a 16-seed in the first round. “Arizona?” That must have been a dream (why are you dreaming about my picks, weirdo?). All jokes aside - congrats to Michigan and Dusty May. What. A. Tournament. No more...
